Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Power BI Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise-scale Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. This role is responsible for defining the organization’s Power BI strategy, building highly scalable semantic models, and delivering executive dashboards that enable data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

As a technical leader, you will collaborate with executives, data engineers, analytics teams, cloud architects, and business stakeholders to develop modern analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, and OneLake. You will establish BI best practices, optimize performance, and mentor engineering teams while driving innovation in cloud analytics and data visualization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and development of enterprise-scale Power BI solutions.
  • Design scalable semantic models, reusable datasets, and reporting frameworks.
  • Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated tables, and Power Query (M) transformations.
  • Architect end-to-end BI solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Optimize dashboard performance, data models, and report refresh strategies for large datasets.
  • Establish enterprise BI governance, security, and data quality standards.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and workspace governance.
  • Build executive dashboards and KPI scorecards for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to integrate SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure SQL, and cloud data platforms.
  • Define deployment strategies using Power BI Service, deployment pipelines, and CI/CD.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor BI developers, analysts, and engineers.
  • Evaluate and implement new Microsoft Fabric and Power BI capabilities.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate strategic goals into analytics solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational data governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, reusable frameworks, and BI best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise Power BI solutions.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query (M).
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL.
  • Advanced SQL development and data modeling expertise.
  • Experience with enterprise data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of BI governance, security, and performance optimization.
  • Experience leading technical teams and enterprise BI initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203).
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer certification (DP-600).
  • Experience integrating Power BI with Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Knowledge of Python, Spark, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Experience with DevOps, Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered analytics, Copilot for Power BI, and Generative AI features.
