Power BI Data Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Power BI Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will transform complex business data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and management to identify trends, monitor KPIs, and support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, and DAX, and a passion for converting data into actionable business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Gather, analyze, and document business reporting requirements from stakeholders.
• Create and optimize Power BI data models, relationships, and semantic models.
• Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
• Transform and clean data using Power Query (M Language).
• Connect Power BI to multiple data sources, including SQL Server, Excel, Azure, SharePoint, Snowflake, and APIs.
• Monitor business performance by analyzing trends, forecasts, and operational metrics.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance to ensure report accuracy.
• Optimize dashboard performance, refresh schedules, and dataset efficiency.
• Publish, manage, and secure reports in Power BI Service.
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace permissions.
• Collaborate with data engineers and business users to improve reporting processes.
• Prepare documentation, training materials, and user guides for dashboards.
• Support self-service BI initiatives and provide end-user training.
• Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI updates, and emerging BI technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Reporting.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M).
• Experience writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
• Knowledge of relational databases and data modeling concepts.
• Experience creating executive dashboards and KPI scorecards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Data Factory.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, or SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
• Knowledge of Power Platform tools, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics.
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) certification.
• Understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
